Developmental Assessment

Programs that provide a comprehensive, structured evaluation of a child’s cognitive/intellectual functioning, language and communication skills, independent living skills, social and emotional development and perceptual/motor functioning in order to identify individuals who show developmental delays, determine the nature and extent of the problem and recommend a course of treatment and care. Eligibility: In order to enroll, the individual being supported must have a diagnosed or significant problem behaviors that, if continued, would put the individual at risk for being diagnosed with a disability.Workshops are open to anyone who supports individuals with disabilities and challenging behavior.
Services Provided: Develops and implements support plans for people with disabilities and challenging behavior that include functional assessment and function-based intervention. Provides trainings, technical support and consultation services to families, agencies, and schools. Services build capacity in family members, professionals, and care providers supporting individuals with challenging behavior. All services are individualized to meet the unique needs of those requesting support.

Services Provided: UCAN is a multi-disciplinary team of professionals concerned with autism and neurodevelopmental disorders in children. The Team is a diverse group of professionals from different disciplines and agencies throughout Northern Nevada comprised of child psychiatrists, child psychologists, school psychologists, an occupational therapist, marriage and family therapist, speech language pathologists, and a developmental specialist. This means providing individualized outcomes from assessment that has a meaningful impact on children and families and enables affordable access to assessment. We provide three extensive assessments per month as well as follow up to help families access the recommended treatments outlined by the Team. The team functions in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology in the School of Medicine.
